Recent News from the Clay lab at Tulane University

Jacob (Jake) Dixon has joined EEB and the lab (co-advised with Sunshine Van Bael in EEB). Jake has a Masters degree in Entomology from the University of Illinois. Welcome Jake!

Sean Lee (Clay lab and co-advised with Emily Farrer in EEB) won a Smithsonian one year fellowship and will be working with invasive Phragmites at SERC. Congratulations!

Lekeah Durden, recent PhD student from Indiana University (IU), graduated from IU in May 2021 and recently accepted a staff position in the Department of Biology at Central Michigan University. Lekeah also got married this past June so congratulations on all of these accomplishments!

Briana Whitaker (IU PhD in Clay lab) is now Research Microbiologist at the ARS-USDA National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria, IL following initial delays resulting from COVID. Keep our food supply safe!

Natalie Christian (IU PhD in Clay lab) is now Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Biology at the University of Louisville. Congratulations Natalie!

Quynh Quach, research associate extraordinaire at Tulane, has begun the nursing program at LSU but still plans to work part time in the Clay lab. Best wishes for Nursing School and thanks for continuing at Tulane!

Paul Richardson has recently joined the lab as a new research associate. Paul has a strong background in programming and will be contributing to our lab work. Welcome Paul!

Keith is joining the Glass Half Full and NSF ReCoast teams to explore how beach vegetation (like the beach morning glory, Ipomoea pes-caprae) grows on the glass-based artificial sand substrate compared to natural beach sand. This exciting project is funded by the new NSF Convergence Accelerator program.
